Ewang rejects A’Ibom APC Congress

- From Patrick Odey, Uyo

Former Military Governor of Ogun and Rivers States, Group Captain Sam Ewang, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not conducted any congress in Akwa Ibom.

Ewang said what took place in the name of congress is a caricature where a single individual decides on behalf of others, and demanded that the congresses be declared null and void.

His words “There was nothing like APC congresses conducted in the state either at the ward local or state level. What is happening is a situation where a single individual who thinks he should be the leader and governorship candidate of the party, assumes that because he was in ACN he could come and connive with some people in ACN in the state to come and corner APC’’

Ewang, who was the governorship candidate on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Akwa Ibom State alleged that Senator John Udoedeghe was conniving with some ACN member at the APC national headquarters to pocket.

The former governor who disassociated from the congresses along with other stakeholders of the party said though he is not interested in any elective position in APC in the state, he promised to give the people the best leader that would endear the people to the party in the state.

“I may not be interested in any office but I promised that I would give APC in the state the best leader that ever exists because of what we have been experiencing over the years,’’ he said.

Senator Udoedehe while reacting, described the turn out in last Saturday’s congress as massive, saying it was a huge success. “INEC was here, the state congress committee which conducted the election was here it was a huge success, this is democracy at work,’’ he stated.
