The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) yesterday expressed sadness at the reported killing of 59 persons in a fresh crisis between Eggon and Gwandara ethnic groups in Nasarawa State, urging the warring groups to immediately stop further attacks.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, expressed the forum’s condolences to the families of the victims and urged law enforcement agents to find proactive ways of forestalling further occurrence.

Governor Aliyu in a statement called on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are caught and brought to justice in order to prevent a reoccurrence, stressing that a situation where people are killed at will is unacceptable.

The forum condemned the spate of violence in the region and called on all stakeholders to be part of the process of finding lasting solutions to the problem of insecurity in the North. It said it is working with the federal government on the fight against terrorism. The forum prayed God to grant the souls of the deceased eternal rest and members of their families the fortitude to bear the losses.
