US-based Kwarans offer free medicare

- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Ilorin

A medical team of the Kwara State Association in North America (KSANG) yesterday arrived Ilorin to provide free medical services, including surgeries to patients.

This is part of efforts by Kwarans in diaspora to support government’s healthcare services to ensure the attainment of the 500 meters access to quality primary healthcare.

Addressing the team which comprises pharmacists, consultants and neurologists from the United States of America during a courtesy visit to Government House in Ilorin, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with non-governmental organizations across the world to improve access to qualitative healthcare.

“It’s only through partnership that access to qualitative healthcare could be achieved and sustained, given the capital intensive nature of medical care”, Ahmed said.

Leader of the team, Mr Wole Adeoye, said they would be in Kwara for two weeks to provide free services. Adeoye commended the state government’s medical policy, especially the rehabilitation of five general hospitals and the expansion of the community health insurance scheme.
