NBBF post­pones Week 9 DStv Bas­ket­ball League matches

The Nigeria Bas­ket­ball Fed­er­a­tion (NBBF) has post­poned all Week Nine matches in the on­go­ing DStv Bas­ket­ball League sched­uled for May 2, an of­fi­cial said yes­ter­day.

Ag­boola Pin­heiro, a board mem­ber of the fed­er­a­tion, told said in a chat in La­gos that week nine matches were post­poned be­cause of the league’s pres­ti­gious All-Star Game.

Pin­heiro said that the de­vel­op­ment would en­able some play­ers to par­tic­i­pate in the All-Star match.

He said the week nine matches that were sched­uled for May 2 across the At­lantic and the Sa­van­nah Con­fer­ences had been moved to May 9.

“We are set to wit­ness yet an­other All-Star Game which comes up on May 3 in La­gos, hence the need to move the date of the matches across the two con­fer­ences.

“The shift in date will al­low some selected play­ers to par­tic­i­pate in the pres­ti­gious event which will show­case the best of play­ers from the two con­fer­ences.

“These set of play­ers are also the best that have been mon­i­tored since the be­gin­ning of the sea­son in March,” he said.

The selected play­ers from the At­lantic Con­fer­ence nar­rowly de­feated their op­po­nents from the Sa­van­nah Con­fer­ence 104-103 to win the 2012/2013 edi­tion.

The At­lantic Team got N1mil­lion for their ef­forts while the Sa­van­nah Team got N500, 000. (NAN)
