INEC raises voter ed­u­ca­tion c’ttee

The In­de­pen­dent Na­tional Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (INEC) has set up Na­tional In­ter­a­gency Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee on Voter Ed­u­ca­tion and Pub­lic­ity (NICVEP).

This is con­tained in a state­ment signed by Mr Olu­wole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Di­rec­tor of Voter Ed­u­ca­tion and Pub­lic­ity, in Abuja yes­ter­day.

The state­ment ex­plained that the com­mit­tee would en­sure ef­fec­tive dis­sem­i­na­tion of in­for­ma­tion and en­light­en­ment of the elec­torate for cred­i­ble elec­tions in 2015.

“The com­mis­sion has es­tab­lished NICVEP for ef­fec­tive dis­sem­i­na­tion of elec­toral in­for­ma­tion and en­light­en­ment of the elec­torate,” it said.

The com­mit­tee, ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, com­prises mem­bers from 15 agencies.

They in­clude INEC, Na­tional Ori­en­ta­tion Agency, Federal Min­istries of In­for­ma­tion, Ed­u­ca­tion, Youth and Sport, Women Af­fairs and So­cial De­vel­op­ment, and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and Na­tional Broad­cast­ing Com­mis­sion, among oth­ers. (NAN)
