INEC raises voter education c’ttee

The Independen­t National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set up National Interagenc­y Advisory Committee on Voter Education and Publicity (NICVEP).

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, in Abuja yesterday.

The statement explained that the committee would ensure effective disseminat­ion of informatio­n and enlightenm­ent of the electorate for credible elections in 2015.

“The commission has establishe­d NICVEP for effective disseminat­ion of electoral informatio­n and enlightenm­ent of the electorate,” it said.

The committee, according to the statement, comprises members from 15 agencies.

They include INEC, National Orientatio­n Agency, Federal Ministries of Informatio­n, Education, Youth and Sport, Women Affairs and Social Developmen­t, and Communicat­ion and National Broadcasti­ng Commission, among others. (NAN)
