FG begins review of LGs employees scheme
A presidential committee for the review of the Scheme of Service for Local Government Employees was inaugurated in on Monday by the minister of Special Duties and Inter governmental Affairs Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
The minister said the inauguration mark the start of the review of three vital documents to local government administration in Nigeria which h he said was long overdue.
“The schemes of service for local government employees have been overdue for a review being that the current edition was produced in the year 2006. I am confident that, such review would significantly contribute to reducing the challenges in the sector and enhance the realization of president’s transformation agenda,” Turaki said.
He said efforts are being made to minimize the systemic challenges in local governance in Nigeria.
“This review therefore, is borne out of the existing collaboration between the ministry and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the “Strengthening Nigeria’s Local Governance and Local Development Programme.”
