Vigilante groups to comb Sokoto forest for criminals

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto

Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko has called on district heads to mobilize vigilante groups to comb bushes for criminals hideouts.

He made the call while condoling with the people of Rabah Local Government Area over the death of the council’s cashier, who was killed by unknown gunmen.

He urged district heads in Isa Rabah,Goronyo areas to form special vigilante groups to patrol the Dajin Gundumi forest, which is said to be harbouring criminals.

Wamakko said the search was necessary as report has shown that there are suspicious activities going on in the forest.

He said it was expedient for traditional leaders to work together and check crime in their domains.

The governor also stressed the need for people of the state to be more security conscious and to report vigilant any suspicious activity or movement for necessary action.
