NUJ distances self from Ogunlusi’s book on Nigerian media
The Central Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday disassociated itself from a book written by a former National Secretary of the union, Mr Jola Ogunlusi.
The union said in a statement that the book entitled, “NUJ: the History of the Nigerian Media’’, contained “distorted facts and tissues of lies”.
“The union is compelled to distance itself from the publication based on distortion of facts and tissues of lies contained in it.
“The NUJ frowns at name calling and character assassination of its past leaders.
“The publication portrayed our revered leaders in bad light,” said the statement.
It also described the publication as a deliberate attempt to ridicule the NUJ and its past leaders in the eyes of an average and right thinking Nigerian.(NAN)
