- From Usman A. Bello, Lokoja

Five persons were injured in Lokoja, when the Immaculate Catholic Cathedral, which is under construction collapsed.

Witnesses said the workers were on break when the building collapsed, and that they heard a loud noise after which the building came down.

They said those injured include some of the worker who were eating close to the building.

Meanwhile, the state deputy governor, Yomi Awoniyi, who was at the site, ordered suspension of work, pending submission of report by a committee that has been set up to investigate the incident. He described the collapse as unfortunate, urging the committee to speed up work on the assignment.

Rev Father Anthony Akande, the Cathedral Administrator, who confirmed that the incident occurred when the workers were on break, thanked God that no life was lost.
