Truck driver escapes lynching after killing cyclist at Sheda
A middle-aged truck driver escaped lynching by some angry youth after he allegedly crushed a cyclist to death at Sheda, along the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway.
An eyewitness, Saidu Mohammed, said the incident happened Saturday, around 2:13 pm, when the driver of an unmarked trailer ran over the cyclist.
He said the driver zoomed off immediately after knocking the cyclist, adding: “The driver sped off but some youth mobilised themselves and pursued him to Kwaita village, where he was flagged down.”
He said the youth dragged him out of the truck and started beating him until some elders intervened and rescued the driver.
City News learnt that the cyclist’s relatives have since collected his remains while the injured person was taken to Kwali General Hospital by sympathisers.
