3 killed as car rams into moving truck at Kwali

Three persons lost their lives after a vehicle hit a moving trailer from behind on Tuesday evening at Dabi village, near Kwali on the AbujaLokoj­a road.

Our reporter learnt that the driver of the vehicle, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by police men on patrol at Kwali and taken to the hospital.

A witness said the crash happened around 4:12 pm, when the driver of Volkswagen Golf car with registrati­on number XC 846 LKJ, coming on high speed amid heavy downpour suddenly hit a moving Dangote truck.

He said the trailer was diverting to his lane when the Golf driver who overtook another vehicle from behind suddenly hit the moving truck and killed three passengers on the spot.

“It was raining heavily and at the same time, the driver was on top speed and he could not see his front clearly then he suddenly rammed into the trailer, which left three passengers dead on the spot, he said.

He said the corpses were evacuated, including the injured driver, by some police men on patrol and taken to the hospital.

When contacted, the Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander, Jeremiah M. Fada, said the police carried out the rescue before the arrival of his men to the scene.

The Kwali Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Yakubu Mohammed confirmed the crash, saying three persons lost their lives and their corpses have been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital at Gwagwalada.

He said the Golf driver, who sustained various degrees of injuries was also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
