Traditional rulers, others laud Amaechi, Fayemi’s nomination

- From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev Felix Ajakaye, traditional rulers, politicians from Rivers State and other Nigerians yesterday lauded the nomination of former governors Kayode Fayemi and Rotimi Amaechi as a minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, describing it as a reward for hard work and vision.

The Rivers Progressives Front, a body of senior politicians and professionals in Rivers State, said in a statement signed by Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo, the group’s administrator, that Amaechi’s nomination among other tested progressive leaders was as an eloquent statement by the president that the change Nigerians voted for had come to stay.

“It is a bold and unmistakable statement that Mr. President is very clear about his mission to reposition our great country. It is a statement that puts to shame professional blackmailers and smear campaigners”, the statement said. The group urged the Senate to endorse his nomination.

The APC chairman in Ekiti State, Olajide Awe, advised Fayemi to strengthen the template for modern governance anchored on human development which he established in Ekiti to contribute his quota to national development.

Bishop Ajakaye asked Fayemi to use his God-given talent to “concretely and meaningfully” make a positive impact in the service of the nation.

The Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Fayemi’s home town, Oba Sunday Ajiboye, said the brilliance and vision he demonstrated while in office between 2010 and 2014 posted landmark impacts unprecedented in the state’s development and enjoined him to demonstrate the same passion as a minister.

Former Central

Bank Director, Samuel Bandele Falegan, said he was convinced that Fayemi’s nomination was a reward by God for dedication to selfless service to humanity and loyalty to his party. The Alare of Are-Ekiti, Oba Boluwade Adebiyi asked Fayemi to maintain the attribute of the service to the nation while the president, Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs in Ekiti State, Alhaji Yakubu Sanni, said Fayemi’s legacy projects would for many years remain unparalleled. The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, said Fayemi’s nomination was an attestation to his record of excellence as a governor of Ekiti State.
