Ex Tennis players to mentor students in 150 UK schools
Young people struggling with their behaviours, confidence or academic performance are to be engaged by current and former tennis players to overcome their difficulties, Britain’s Youth Sport Trust has announced.
It said the move followed a three-year partnership with the Tennis Foundation where former and current professional tennis players would work in disadvantaged schools to inspire young people and help them fulfil their personal potential.
The partnership targets about 150 secondary schools and 1,500 young people across the United Kingdom..
Youth Sport Trust Chief Executive Officer Ali Oliver said during the launch of the partnership that “We are delighted to grow our relationship with the Tennis Foundation, combining the Youth Sport Trust’s considerable experience in raising achievement and athlete mentoring with the power of tennis and the inspiration of elite players.
