Igbos elect Awagu as Wakili Igbo of Gbagyi Chiefdom

The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chapter has chosen and confirmed Ogbuefi Fredrick Awagu as the Wakili Igbo of Gbagyi Chiefdom.

Speaking at the confirmation ceremony in Sa Gbagyi 1 palace in Kaduna, the President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chapter, 19 Northern states and Abuja, Barrister Austine C. Amechi said they are confident that Awagu will enhance harmonious relationship between the Igbo and Gbagyi in Kaduna state.

Barrister Austine Amechi said , “Ogbuefi Fredrick Awagu, has been declared as the Wakili Igbo of Gbagyi Chiefdom, which in Igbo parlance is the Eze Igbo of Gbagyi Chiefdom of Kaduna State.”

He said that the appointment of Awagu as Wakili Igbo of Gbagyi Chiefdom is endorsed by the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chapter, Ohanaeze Women’s Wing, Youth Wing and the General Assembly.

He assured that Awagu will enhance harmonious relationship between the Igbos and Gbagyis in Kaduna State.

In response, Sa Gbagyi 1, Dr. Danjuma Barde, said if Igbos have Eze under the Zazzau Emirate Council as well as the other chiefdoms in Kaduna State, it is also imperative for him to have Eze Igbo under Gbagyi Chiefdom.

He said his desire for Eze Igbo therefore, has been met by the adoption and confirmation of Ogbuefi Fredrick Awagu by the Ohanaeze Indi Igbo family in Kaduna.
