Ig­bos elect Awagu as Wak­ili Igbo of Gbagyi Chief­dom

The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chap­ter has cho­sen and con­firmed Og­buefi Fredrick Awagu as the Wak­ili Igbo of Gbagyi Chief­dom.

Speak­ing at the con­fir­ma­tion cer­e­mony in Sa Gbagyi 1 palace in Kaduna, the Pres­i­dent of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chap­ter, 19 North­ern states and Abuja, Bar­ris­ter Aus­tine C. Amechi said they are con­fi­dent that Awagu will en­hance har­mo­nious re­la­tion­ship be­tween the Igbo and Gbagyi in Kaduna state.

Bar­ris­ter Aus­tine Amechi said , “Og­buefi Fredrick Awagu, has been de­clared as the Wak­ili Igbo of Gbagyi Chief­dom, which in Igbo par­lance is the Eze Igbo of Gbagyi Chief­dom of Kaduna State.”

He said that the ap­point­ment of Awagu as Wak­ili Igbo of Gbagyi Chief­dom is en­dorsed by the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Kaduna State Chap­ter, Ohanaeze Women’s Wing, Youth Wing and the Gen­eral Assem­bly.

He as­sured that Awagu will en­hance har­mo­nious re­la­tion­ship be­tween the Ig­bos and Gbagyis in Kaduna State.

In re­sponse, Sa Gbagyi 1, Dr. Dan­juma Barde, said if Ig­bos have Eze un­der the Zaz­zau Emi­rate Coun­cil as well as the other chief­doms in Kaduna State, it is also im­per­a­tive for him to have Eze Igbo un­der Gbagyi Chief­dom.

He said his de­sire for Eze Igbo there­fore, has been met by the adop­tion and con­fir­ma­tion of Og­buefi Fredrick Awagu by the Ohanaeze Indi Igbo fam­ily in Kaduna.
