- By Emma Elekwa

Two persons have been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area court over alleged negligence which led to an employee absconding from his duty post.

John Ehiosun and Shuaibu Abdulrazak, the Manager and Supervisor of Sartun Development Innovative Security Company, were charged for shielding an offender.

The police prosecutor, Yakubu Enang told the court that one Mrs. Iye Onoja of Kubwa reported at the Dutsen Alhaji Police station on September 21 how she left for work in the morning of the same date and left the house in charge of one Titus Azos, a security guard, presently at large.

He said on the return of the complainant, she discovered that the main gate of the house was open and her bedroom burgled, adding that the security guard was nowhere to be found, while the cash sum of $2,300, N330,000 and gold valued at N2million were discovered to be stolen.

According to the prosecutor, police investigation revealed that the absconded security guard was an active security operative posted to the complainant by the accused.

He further said that the accused persons could not furnish the police with full details of the said employee to enable his possible arrest.

When the charge was read to the accused, Shuaibu Abdulrazak pleaded guilty, while John Ehiosun denied the allegation, and was granted bail in the sum of N3million by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with two reasonable sureties who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to October 27, for sentence and hearing to enable the accused produce the security man.
