Daily Trust IDPs re­lief fund reaches N143m

Over N143 mil­lion has been paid into the bank ac­counts ded­i­cated to as­sist In­ter­nally Dis­placed Per­sons (IDPs) in the North­east.

The amount do­nated is part of N230 mil­lion pledges made by dig­ni­taries at an event ti­tled “Ad­vo­cacy and Fund Rais­ing for In­ter­nally Dis­placed Per­sons in the North East,” or­ga­nized by Media Trust Lim­ited, pub­lish­ers of the Trust ti­tles in Au­gust this year.

All the big­gest donors have re­deemed their pledges. These in­clude Dan­gote Foun­da­tion (N100,000,000), Borno State Gov­ern­ment (N10,000,000), Media Trust Lim­ited (N10,000,000), Jaiz Foun­da­tion (N5,000,000), and NNDC Group, Kaduna (N5,000,000).

NAHCO Plc and three anony­mous per­sons, who do not want to be men­tioned, do­nated N1 mil­lion each.

Other donors are Oby Ezek­we­sili (N200, 000), Lucky Ja­yarathe (N100, 000), Okonkwo O. (N50, 000), Ade­bayo Adetawo (N40, 000), Kay­ode Adeniyi Oguns (N25, 000), Ru­mundaka Wono ((N25, 000), and Nasku In­vest­ment Ltd (N300, 000).

FMBN, Garba Ahmed, SOI In­te­grated Global, H&M Con­struc­tion Nig.Ltd, Nige­ria Po­lice Force Pen­sion, and Suleiman Ya­haya Foun­da­tion paid N500, 000 each.

Aisha Us­man Famja, Awwal Isa, and Kamshi In­te­grated also paid N250, 000 each.

Lawal Kankia Ibrahim, Ibrahim Kwar­gana, Surveyor Abubakar H. Jikamshi, Sal­i­hijo S. Tahir, A.I. De­vel­op­ment Ser­vices, Pro­fes­sor At­tahiru Jega and Aden­ter Nige­ria Ltd do­nated N200, 000 each.

Ab­dul­mu­mini Ibrahim, Garba Bello, Dr Nuru A. Yakubu, Muham­mad A. Sani, Barr. Bashir Maiguga and Iliyasu Us­man Sambo also gave out N100, 000 each.

N50,000 each was do­nated by Abubakar Maigandi, Kamshi Int. Farms Ltd, Muhammed Ado­gie Ab­dul, Mo­moh Ji­moh, Air Cmdr. U.S Suleiman, Sal­isu Has­san, Kabiru Sarkin Pawa, Ibrahim Gei­dam, Ishaq Sal­ihu, Dahiru Saidu, Kas­sim Gana Gaidam, Pow­erch­ing Kun­ming Engr. Co. Ltd, Abubakar N.I, Sani Lulu Ab­dul­lahi, SKY, Nana Fa­tima Binta, Nilesh Ni­pane, and Ba­manga Muham­mad.

A.M. Goloma, Ahmed Ru­fai Si­rajo, Ummi Ahmed Ru­fai, and Ab­dul­lahi Has­san do­nated N30, 000 each.

A.M Bello, Gi­dado Jaa­far Tukur, Abubakar Suleiman, Ba­bangida Ki­yari, Ja­mal Ab­dal­lah gave out N20, 000 each. Donors also in­clude Umar Suleiman N43, 000, Muhammed Ibrahim N35, 000 and Umar Aisha N25, 000.

The sum of N908, 623 was raised from other anony­mous donors.

Non-gov­ern­men­tal or­gan­i­sa­tions, civil so­ci­eties, well-mean­ing Nige­ri­ans among oth­ers, who are will­ing to con­trib­ute the Daily Trust IDPs Re­lief Funds, can still do so via the four ac­count num­bers opened by the or­ga­niz­ers of the event. No amount is too small as we welcome more do­na­tions.

The four ac­counts are: First Bank, 2028620800; GTBank, 0175835101; Jaiz Bank, 0001706242; Union Bank, 0045259464. The ac­count name in all the four banks is the same, which is “Daily Trust (IDP) Re­lief Fund.” The email for the fund is re­li­ef­fund@dai­lytrust.com .

Mean­while, the IDP Funds man­age­ment board that will ad­min­is­ter the fund is sched­uled to hold its inau­gu­ral meet­ing on Oc­to­ber 13 to de­vise guide­lines of ap­ply­ing the funds.

The five-mem­ber board has two rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Media Trust Lim­ited, a nom­i­nee of the high­est donor and two rep­re­sen­ta­tives of non­govern­men­tal or­gan­i­sa­tions with ex­pe­ri­ence with IDPs.

The in­terim Chair­man of the board, who thanked all those who have do­nated to the fund, also called on those who are yet to re­deem their pledges to do so as soon as pos­si­ble, as­sur­ing that ev­ery­thing about the fund will be done trans­par­ently.
