Re­tired Colonel dies in bath­room

A 54-year-old re­tired Colonel was re­ported dead on Tues­day af­ter he slumped in the bath­room in his house in Pipeline area of Kubwa, a satel­lite town of the FCT.

The de­ceased, iden­ti­fied as Mo­hammed Mshe­lia, was said to be a hy­per­ten­sive pa­tient and was sus­pected to have died af­ter slump­ing and hit­ting his head on the slip­pery tiles in the bath­room.

City News gath­ered that he had com­plained of dizzi­ness for some­times, a de­vel­op­ment the wife sug­gested they sought for med­i­cal at­ten­tion, but was turned down by the de­ceased who in­sisted on the med­i­ca­tion he was placed on.

The source said his wife had left for work in the morn­ing of that fate­ful day when he en­tered the bath­room to take his bath.

“It was his daugh­ter’s call to in­form him about her suc­cess­ful grad­u­a­tion from med­i­cal school that gave the hint that all was not well. The fa­ther’s phone kept ring­ing with­out any re­sponse,” he said.

Ac­cord­ing to the source, the daugh­ter even­tu­ally called the mother who hur­riedly rushed back home af­ter get­ting the same re­sponse her daugh­ter got when she called the hus­band’s line re­peat­edly.

“It took the wife some time be­fore she fi­nally lo­cated the body of the hus­band ly­ing life­less on the floor of the bath­room, hav­ing searched the en­tire build­ing with­out any suc­cess,” the source added.

City News fur­ther learnt that she im­me­di­ately raised alarm which at­tracted other mem­bers of the neigh­bor­hood and they as­sisted her in tak­ing the body to the hos­pi­tal where he was cer­ti­fied dead.

Con­firm­ing the in­ci­dent, the Kubwa Di­vi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Nur­rudeen Sabo, de­scribed the death as tragic, say­ing the corpse had been buried ac­cord­ing to Is­lamic rites.
