Boko Haram kills 11 in Adamawa

Boko Haram mil­i­tants killed 11 vil­lagers and wounded many in Mada­gali area of Adamawa State on Satur­day, our reporter gath­ered yes­ter­day.

Res­i­dents re­ported that two fe­male sui­cide bombers det­o­nated ex­plo­sives in Dar vil­lage, killing them­selves and 11 peo­ple in­clud­ing three chil­dren.

Boko Haram have been launch­ing at­tacks on vil­lages since the lib­er­a­tion of Mada­gali area by Nige­rian troops in Fe­bru­ary with res­i­dents call­ing for de­ploy­ment of sol­diers to sur­round­ing vil­lages and bushes where the mil­i­tants are hid­ing.

Maina Ularamu, the former ad­min­is­tra­tor of Mada­gali LGA said gun men stormed Dar at about 8:30 pm.

“Res­i­dents fled to the bush, af­ter a mo­ment, two women who dis­guised as flee­ing lo­cals blew them­selves up at a crowded place in the bush while the gun men shot at sur­vivors. So far 11 corpses have been found” he said.

The spokesman of ýthe Ad­mawa Po­lice Com­mand, DSP Oth­man Abubakar, con­firmed the death of 11 per­sons in the at­tack, adding that three houses were burnt while many of the wounded were re­ceiv­ing treat­ment at the hospi­tal in Yola.

Un­con­firmed re­ports said the in­sur­gents re­port­edly seized a mil­i­tary ve­hi­cle con­vey­ing food sup­plies on Fri­day around 5 pm at Gubla vil­lage. A tea seller was also ab­ducted at the vil­lage.
