Abamu, Ed­wards win SNEPCo Ju­nior Ten­nis cham­pi­onship

Two-time cham­pion, Martins Abamu, 16, from Lagos on Satur­day de­feated Tochukwu Ezeh, 16, from Anam­bra, 9-6 to win the U-18 boy’s SNEPCo Ju­nior Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship.

The game lasted for over three hours as both play­ers dis­played bril­liant per­for­mance.

Abamu dis­played

good foot work in the de­liv­ery of balls to the base­line.

He said af­ter the match that he won the game be­cause was able to dis­cover his op­po­nent weak point in the cause of the match.

“I was not ex­pect­ing a win, be­cause my op­po­nents are a good player. I have seen his game be­fore, he play bril­liantly. I was lucky that he was too weak to con­tinue his game and I took ad­van­tage of it,” he said.

Ezeh said that he was n charge and happy at a re­sult un­til sud­denly he lost fo­cus.

NAN re­ports that, Chris Bu­lus, 16, from Lagos de­feated Chris Itodo, 16, from Kaduna, 9-6, to win the U-16 boys cat­e­gory.

In the U-14 boy’s cat­e­gory, Saminu Ab­dul­lahi, 14, de­feated Musa Sani, 14, 9-8, while David John­son, 12, from Port Har­court de­feated.

Ab­dul­lahi Ajanaku, 11, 9-2 to win in the U-12 boy’s.

Daniel Adel­eye, 10, from Ek­iti de­feated Joe For­tune, 10, from Lagos to emerge win­ner in the U-10 boy’s class.

In the U-16

girl’s event, MaryLove Ed­wards, 10, from Lagos de­feated Toyin Osagba from Edo, win­ing 9-6, to win the cat­e­gory.

Tim­i­bre Maxwell, 12, from Port Har­court beat Favour Moses, 14, 9-8 (3) to win in the U-14 girl’s, while in the U-12 girl’s, Re­becca Peters, 12, de­feated Chidinma Ezeh, 12, 9-7 to win the ti­tle. (NAN)
