Abamu, Edwards win SNEPCo Junior Tennis championsh­ip

Two-time champion, Martins Abamu, 16, from Lagos on Saturday defeated Tochukwu Ezeh, 16, from Anambra, 9-6 to win the U-18 boy’s SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championsh­ip.

The game lasted for over three hours as both players displayed brilliant performanc­e.

Abamu displayed

good foot work in the delivery of balls to the baseline.

He said after the match that he won the game because was able to discover his opponent weak point in the cause of the match.

“I was not expecting a win, because my opponents are a good player. I have seen his game before, he play brilliantl­y. I was lucky that he was too weak to continue his game and I took advantage of it,” he said.

Ezeh said that he was n charge and happy at a result until suddenly he lost focus.

NAN reports that, Chris Bulus, 16, from Lagos defeated Chris Itodo, 16, from Kaduna, 9-6, to win the U-16 boys category.

In the U-14 boy’s category, Saminu Abdullahi, 14, defeated Musa Sani, 14, 9-8, while David Johnson, 12, from Port Harcourt defeated.

Abdullahi Ajanaku, 11, 9-2 to win in the U-12 boy’s.

Daniel Adeleye, 10, from Ekiti defeated Joe Fortune, 10, from Lagos to emerge winner in the U-10 boy’s class.

In the U-16

girl’s event, MaryLove Edwards, 10, from Lagos defeated Toyin Osagba from Edo, wining 9-6, to win the category.

Timibre Maxwell, 12, from Port Harcourt beat Favour Moses, 14, 9-8 (3) to win in the U-14 girl’s, while in the U-12 girl’s, Rebecca Peters, 12, defeated Chidinma Ezeh, 12, 9-7 to win the title. (NAN)
