Pres­i­dency’s panel on bailout sub­mits re­port

Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral of As­so­ci­a­tion of Se­nior Civil Ser­vants of Nige­ria (ASCSN) Com­rade Alade Bashir Lawal said yes­ter­day that re­port of the Pres­i­dency’s panel on bailout for fed­eral pub­lic ser­vants has been sub­mit­ted.

Lawal, in a state­ment made avail­able to news­men in Lagos yes­ter­day, said based on that, the fed­eral gov­ern­ment would com­mence pay­ment of salary ar­rears and al­lowances to civil ser­vants soon.

Lawal, who is a mem­ber of the panel, com­mended the Of­fice of the Head of the Civil Ser­vice of the Fed­er­a­tion for de­liv­er­ing the re­port on tar­get.

“We must also ex­press grat­i­tude to the Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary, Fed­eral Min­istry of Labour and Pro­duc­tiv­ity, Dr Ce­ment Il­loh, who was chair­man of the panel for the way he steered af­fairs.

He said out­stand­ing ben­e­fits of pub­lic ser­vants in Fed­eral Min­istries, De­part­ments and Agen­cies (MDAs) in­cluded salary ar­rears, pro­mo­tion ar­rears, al­lowance on trans­fer from post, repa­tri­a­tion al­lowance and al­lowance for manda­tory train­ing or­gan­ised by Of­fice of the Head of the Civil Ser­vice of the Fed­er­a­tion (OHCSF) in 2010.

He said based on let­ters the union wrote to Pres­i­dent Buhari, he, through the OHCSF, or­dered all Fed­eral MDAs to com­pile the names of af­fected of­fi­cers within seven days.

“Mem­bers of the com­mit­tee that worked on the salary ar­rears were drawn mainly from the Fed­eral Min­istry of Fi­nance, Of­fice of the Head of the Civil Ser­vice of the Fed­er­a­tion, Fed­eral Min­istry of Labour and Pro­duc­tiv­ity and the As­so­ci­a­tion of Se­nior Civil Ser­vants of Nige­ria,” he added.
