Organic fertilizer, way to go for Nigeria’s agro sector

Farmers have been advised to embrace the use of organic fertilizer in agricultural production to guarantee safety of foods.

Head, Communication and Strategy, Mr. Unwana Sunday, made the call at the 3rd African Organic Conference organised by the association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN).

The event with the theme, “Achieving Social and Economic Development Through Ecological and Organic Agriculture Alternative’ was supported by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and other reputable international organizations and institutions involved in organic agriculture practice.

Several international and local exhibitors had their various organic produce, products and services displayed on their respective stands at the event at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking on the need for African countries to embrace organic agriculture practices, Sunday said Alfa Life Organic Fertilizer International, a Nigeria-based company in partnership with a Malaysian manufacturing company has brought to the country, various brands of innovative farm inputs.
