Abdulsalam­i, Ogbeh, Otudeko, Adamu for Daily Trust Agric confab

The former Head of State and Chairman, Maizube Farms, General Abdulsalam­i Abubakar ( rtd), Honourable Minister in-waiting, Chief Audu Ogbeh, Chairman, Honeywell Group, Dr Oba Otudeko and Chairman, Nagari Dairy Integrated Farm and former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, have all confirmed to be among the special guests that will attend the 1st Daily Trust Agric Conference and Exhibition in partnershi­p with the Federal Ministry of Agricultur­e and Rural Developmen­t.

The event is scheduled to take place at NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Plot 498, Ahmadu Bello Way, along NEXT Cash and Carry expressway, Kado, Abuja, 27th and 28th October, 2015.

The conference which has the theme, ‘Beyond Crude Oil: How Agribusine­ss Can Sustain Nigeria’s Economy’ will also have in attendance state governors as special guests of honour, where they are also expected to present their state’s agricultur­e potentials to investors and other stakeholde­rs.

The distinguis­hed guest of honour is General Abulsalami Abubakar, and the distinguis­hed guest is Chief Audu Ogbeh, while Dr. Oba Otudeko and Senator Abdullahi Adamu will be chairmen of plenary for day one and day two respective­ly.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agricultur­e and Rural Developmen­t, Arch Sonny Echono, who will be the chief cohost, will deliver a keynote address at the opening ceremony.

The conference will have speakers/ discussant­s drawn from both the public and private sectors. These include, the Chief Executive Officers ( CEOs) of Bank of Agricultur­e, BOA, Nigerian Agricultur­al Insurance Corporatio­n, NAIC, Nigeria Commodity Exchange, NCEX, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC, Unity Bank Plc, NIRSAL of CBN and the academia among other top executives.

All Farmers Associatio­n of Nigeria, AFAN, Federation of Agric Commoditie­s Associatio­ns of Nigeria, FACAN, state Agricultur­al Developmen­t Programmes, fertilizer manufactur­ing organisati­ons, research institutes, agro processing industries/agro allied industries, experts in the agricultur­e value chain, university dons, NGOs and the diplomatic community among other stakeholde­rs.

Exhibitors will also have the opportunit­y to display their products, flyers and other corporate banners at the event. It is also an opportunit­y for the exhibitors to explain more about those products to stakeholde­rs and other investors that are looking for opportunit­y to invest in the sector.

Participan­ts will brainstorm on the developmen­t of agricultur­e in Nigeria and how the sector can complement crude oil as cash cow for Nigeria’s economy.

The communiqué arrived at the sessions will be communicat­ed to the Presidency in line with the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of diversific­ation of the nation’s economy.
