Po­lice nab no­to­ri­ous fraud­ster

FCT po­lice dur­ing the week ar­rested a mem­ber of a no­to­ri­ous syn­di­cate that pro­duces fake N1,000 notes and cir­cu­lates them to in­no­cent res­i­dents in the Fed­eral Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory.

The FCT Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent An­juguri Man­zah, told our reporter that on Mon­day morn­ing, po­lice op­er­a­tives at­tached to the com­mand ar­rested a mem­ber of a no­to­ri­ous syn­di­cate that spe­cial­ized in pro­duc­ing and cir­cu­lat­ing fake N1,000 notes.

He said the sus­pect was ar­rested around Royal Park in Wuse 2, where he had gone to buy N200 recharge card with the fake N1000 note.

City News gath­ered that the sus­pect and his gang have been on the wanted list of the com­mand be­fore his ar­rest for cir­cu­lat­ing fake cur­rency notes in the FCT.

“When he pre­sented the N1000 naira note, the peo­ple sus­pected that the money was fake and they raised alarm, which at­tracted the at­ten­tion of the op­er­a­tives and they promptly re­sponded to the dis­tress call and ar­rested the sus­pect,” he said.

The po­lice spokesman also said that the Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice FCT, CP Wil­son Inalegwu, has en­joined mem­bers of the pub­lic to be vig­i­lant and al­ways pro­vide the po­lice with timely in­for­ma­tion about crim­i­nals and their ne­far­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties.
