Police nab notorious fraudster

FCT police during the week arrested a member of a notorious syndicate that produces fake N1,000 notes and circulates them to innocent residents in the Federal Capital Territory.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superinten­dent Anjuguri Manzah, told our reporter that on Monday morning, police operatives attached to the command arrested a member of a notorious syndicate that specialize­d in producing and circulatin­g fake N1,000 notes.

He said the suspect was arrested around Royal Park in Wuse 2, where he had gone to buy N200 recharge card with the fake N1000 note.

City News gathered that the suspect and his gang have been on the wanted list of the command before his arrest for circulatin­g fake currency notes in the FCT.

“When he presented the N1000 naira note, the people suspected that the money was fake and they raised alarm, which attracted the attention of the operatives and they promptly responded to the distress call and arrested the suspect,” he said.

The police spokesman also said that the Commission­er of Police FCT, CP Wilson Inalegwu, has enjoined members of the public to be vigilant and always provide the police with timely informatio­n about criminals and their nefarious activities.
