Woman in court for steal­ing gold

A 32-year-old woman has been ar­raigned be­fore an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for al­legedly steal­ing gold jew­elry val­ued at N100,000 be­long­ing to one Laure Shehu Ab­dul­lahi.

Aishat Umar of Dei-Dei was ar­raigned for theft, an of­fence con­trary to Sec­tion 287 of the pe­nal code.

The po­lice pros­e­cu­tor, DSP Egwu An­thony told the court that the com­plainant, of No 50, Bishop Street, Phase 2, site 1, Kubwa, re­ported at the Kubwa Po­lice Sta­tion that on Oc­to­ber 2, the sus­pect acted in a du­bi­ous man­ner and stole her (com­plainant) gold jew­elry val­ued at N100, 000.

When the charges were read to the ac­cused, he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Mo­hammed Marafa, ad­journed the mat­ter till De­cem­ber 2, 2015.

Sim­i­larly, the same court has ar­raigned a 27-year-old man for al­legedly con­spir­ing with other per­sons, now at large, to steal a Mazda bus be­long­ing to one Chris Elo­bisi Oni.

Em­manuel Oboh of Madalla was ar­raigned for joint act and theft, of­fences con­trary to sec­tions 79 and 288 of the pe­nal code law.

The po­lice pros­e­cu­tor, DSP Egwu An­thony, told the court that the com­plainant re­ported at the Kubwa Po­lice Sta­tion that some­time in Septem­ber, he (com­plainant) showed the ac­cused a Madza bus, val­ued at N250,000, and in­structed him to bring a buyer.

He said the sus­pect con­spired with oth­ers to steal the said ve­hi­cle.

When the charges were read to the ac­cused, he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Mo­hammed Marafa ad­journed the mat­ter till Novem­ber 25, 2015 for hear­ing.
