Woman in court for stealing gold

A 32-year-old woman has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly stealing gold jewelry valued at N100,000 belonging to one Laure Shehu Abdullahi.

Aishat Umar of Dei-Dei was arraigned for theft, an offence contrary to Section 287 of the penal code.

The police prosecutor, DSP Egwu Anthony told the court that the complainan­t, of No 50, Bishop Street, Phase 2, site 1, Kubwa, reported at the Kubwa Police Station that on October 2, the suspect acted in a dubious manner and stole her (complainan­t) gold jewelry valued at N100, 000.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, adjourned the matter till December 2, 2015.

Similarly, the same court has arraigned a 27-year-old man for allegedly conspiring with other persons, now at large, to steal a Mazda bus belonging to one Chris Elobisi Oni.

Emmanuel Oboh of Madalla was arraigned for joint act and theft, offences contrary to sections 79 and 288 of the penal code law.

The police prosecutor, DSP Egwu Anthony, told the court that the complainan­t reported at the Kubwa Police Station that sometime in September, he (complainan­t) showed the accused a Madza bus, valued at N250,000, and instructed him to bring a buyer.

He said the suspect conspired with others to steal the said vehicle.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa adjourned the matter till November 25, 2015 for hearing.
