FCT Police Command yesterday paraded a 70-year-old man, Adamu Sule, for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public and posing to members of the public as the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Anjuguri Manzah, while parading the suspect, said police operatives attached to Maitama Division, acting on a tip-off arrested one Col Adamu Sule (rtd) who claimed to be the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters.

The PPRO said the suspect who specialized in defrauding influential members of the public and the private sector, was arrested in a house in Maitama area where he claimed to have gone to meet with a former state governor.

“Upon his arrest, the suspect confessed to the police that the claim that he served in the army and that he is the senior special adviser to the president were all false. He also confessed that he only hid under that guise to solicit for juicy contracts or financial favour from his high profile victims.”

A Maitama police source told our reporter that the man had defrauded many ex-governors and lawmakers who he promised to help secure contracts from the federal government, millions of naira.

City News gathered that when some of the victims reported his fraudulent activities to the police, they laid siege on him and arrested him while he was waiting to defraud another ex-governor.

Anjuguri said that the suspect has been transferred to the Command Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for further interrogation, and that exhibits recovered from him included one fake identify card bearing Col. Adamu Sule, Senior Special Adviser to the President and five complimentary cards bearing Col. Adamu Sule (rtd).
