A/Ibom to fire cor­rupt school prin­ci­pals, head­mas­ters

Akwa Ibom State Gover­nor, Udom Gabriel Em­manuel has threat­ened to dis­miss prin­ci­pals and heads of pri­mary schools found guilty of mis­man­ag­ing sub­ven­tions.

The Gover­nor gave

the warn­ing fol­low­ing wide­spread al­le­ga­tion of mal­prac­tices and em­bez­zle­ment of sub­ven­tions by prin­ci­pal of­fi­cers of pri­mary and sec­ondary schools across.

The de­vel­op­ment, it was gath­ered, forced former Gover­nor Godswill Ak­pabio to stop the monthly grants to schools in­sti­tuted to sus­tain the free ed­u­ca­tion pol­icy.

Speak­ing in ra­dio pro­gramme in Uyo, Gover­nor Udom said any head teacher found guilty of cor­rupt prac­tices will have him­self to blame.

“This gov­ern­ment will not tol­er­ate any fur­ther mis­man­age­ment of sub­ven­tion given to schools and any school head found guilty of this will not be spared.

“This ad­min­is­tra­tion is com­mit­ted to zero tol­er­ance to cor­rup­tion and this must be stand­ing prac­tice for all pub­lic of­fi­cers of the state’’ he said.
