Lucky me for this leg! Hyena spotted carrying an elephant's leg

-

This hyena had plenty reason to laugh despite suffering an apparent footin-mouth overload - making its way home with an elephant’s leg in its jaws. The scavenger even stopped to nibble the stump as it headed back to its den in Botswana’s Mashatu Game Reserve. It is believed the hyena might have carried out an amputation and was taking his prize back for the rest of the clan to enjoy after other animals might have feasted on the fleshy remains of dead elephant. Hyena’s are notorious scavengers, and have been photographed carrying the heads of dead lions in their mouths. Despite having a penchant for picking the flesh off of rotting carcasses, the animals are also skilled hunters and catch the majority of their food .
