- By David Ngobua @Ngobuadavid

Gombe State Para-soccer team, the Desert Scorpions have vowed to sting their way to victory over defending champions, Kano Pillars in their Group C match at the ongoing National Para-soccer tournament in Abuja.

After walloping Sokoto State 8-0, Gombe Scorpions yesterday managed a slim 4-3 victory over Niger but they are sure of upstaging Kano in today’s match.

The Chairman of Gombe State Parasoccer Association, Malam Bala Jibrin Kawali said victory over Kano will be possible as his boys are firing on all cylinders.

He said with the leading goal scorer, Haladu Abdullahi “Ashage” in his team, he is confident the Scorpions will beat Kano to top the group.

“We are praying to almighty Allah to give us victory over Kano. It is not going to be easy but my boys are battle ready.

“Some of the best players in this tournament are in my team and we are not going to give Kano too much respect. As defending champions, they will be difficult to beat but we are going for victory,” he said.

“We are aiming at the trophy. However, if we beat Kano and fail to win the trophy, we shall be happy,” he said.

Kano Pillars inspirational player, Abdullahi Mohammed alias Ortega said Gombe should not attempt to bite off more than they can chew.

“Any team that wants to beat us should be ready for war. We are the defending champions so they should know that victory against us will not come easy.

“We are not going to undermine any team because our target is to retain the trophy,” he said.
