Cabinet: Why we withdraw petition against A’isha — Sokoto senators

-

It would be recalled that Senator Gobir had submitted three petitions seeking the withdrawal of Aisha’s nomination.

But there was a drama when Saraki asked the chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Samuel Anyanwu, to submit report on the petitions against Aisha.

Anyanwu said the report was not ready and that he should be given 24 hours to submit it.

Not satisfied with the situation, Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC, Kano South) raised point of order, saying Aisha should be screened since her senators have withdrawn the petitions against her.

But he was ruled out on the ground that one of the three senators from Sokoto should move the motion.

It was at this moment that Senator Gobir moved motion on order 43 which was seconded by Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima (APC, Zamfara West).

Saraki then put to vote the withdrawal and the senators unanimously supported same. The Senate president then told Anyanwu not to bother about it anymore.

The drama ended when A’isha was told to take a bow and go.
