Balarabe Musa tasks INEC on party relationship

Former Kaduna State governor and chairman of the Conference of Political Parties (CNPP), Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has urged the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to find ways of working harmoniously with the nation’s political parties.

This is contained in a congratulatory message to Yakubu, jointly signed by Musa and the Secretary General of CNPP, Chief Willy Ezugwu.

According

to

them, INEC was not “sufficiently independent” to conduct elections and that the new chairman should draw the attention of the National Assembly to the necessary amendments of the 1999 Constitution to ensure democracy as well as free and fair elections.
