Toure: I stayed at City because of Pellegrini

-

Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has revealed that he only stayed at the Manchester City because of his understanding with manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Cote d’Ivoire international was speaking to London’s Daily Mail in England, saying he stayed because he wanted to remain loyal to the Citizen’s manager.

In a book called ‘Pellegrini’s Methods’, Toure is quoted as saying he remained at Etihad Stadium because Pellegrini always talked to him, sharing advice about the game and life off the field.

“I’ve stayed because of Manuel. He always talks to me, giving me some piece of advice. He has been aware of my life off the pitch,” said the Elephants skipper.

“He has been like a father to me in difficult moments. I have never felt like that with another coach.

“Before this season, all the players had a talk and we promised the boss we would recover our level.

“We had to do it for him, for us and for the fans, we have to win important things this season.”

The Citizens were crowned English Premier League winners in the 2013/14 EPL season, however, they failed to defend the title in the next campaign as they were dethroned by Chelsea.
