NIMC: Only 10m Nigerians have national ID numbers
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) yesterday said only 10million Nigerians have so far been registered in the ongoing exercise which is expected to end by January.
NIMC’s Director General, Barrister Chris Oyenemenam who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday at the 10th anniversary of Lifeline Care Association said the national identity system would improve the security situation and save lives of Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to register and collect their identity numbers to avoid being missed out in the exercise.
Earlier, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Professor Chidi Odinkalu said national identification is the right of every Nigerian and government has no right to shut out anyone.
