No alternative to civil service reform - HoSF

-

The acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF) Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, has said that there was no alternative to reform in the Civil Service.

She said civil servants must evolve innovative and proactive strategies to meet the present government’s focus and drive.

Oyo-Ita made the remarks yesterday in Abuja while presenting her inaugural address at the extra-ordinary service wide meeting of federal permanent secretaries.

She also unveil a new agenda that tagged workers as EPIC (Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-Centered) civil servant.

“At a time like this when our country is facing various challenges, the civil service must be innovative and proactive by devising strategies and action plans that will assist the government in addressing this challenges. It is our collective responsibility to protect our image, ensure public confidence and trust in us otherwise, we will be left out of the scheme of things.

“We have no alternative but to be innovative. We are therefore expected to provide quality service in timely, professional and cost effective manner,” Oyo-Ita said.

She said that Nigerians are not expecting anything less and most especially at this time when expectations of the people on the new government are huge, apart from the expectations of the international community, that Nigeria should lead Africa to achieve the new set of Sustainable Development Goals as the largest economy in Africa.
