Former Super Eagles stars, Kanu Kwankwo and Jonathan Akpoborie have tipped the Golden Eaglet to reach the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup currently going on in Chile.

The duo who, were speaking in Lagos yesterday in a separate interviews with journalists after their unveiling as the brand ambassadors of Star Times satellite TV, hailed the team for demolishing Australia 6-0 in the Round of 16 match on Wednesday night.Kanu, who was part of the 1993 Golden Eaglets team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan, said he was hopeful that the team will beat Brazil and eventually make it to the final

“From the first game the team played like champion., at least every Nigerian know that we have a good side that is making us proud, the game against Croatia is a wake-up call, which is very important and crucial, it is good that it happened at the earlier stage.

“I don’t see Brazil beating Nigeria with the kind of team we have, they (Eaglets) should do the same thing they are doing. I believe that we are going all the way to the final to come back with the cup,” the former Super Eagles captain said.

He advised the team to remain focused for the game against Brazil on Sunday.

“The coach and the crew are experience, they know what they are doing, after the loss against Croatia you can see the way they bounced back. They should not lose focus and continue with what they have been doing from the beginning,” Kanu added.

Akpoborie on his part said he was full of hope that the Eaglets will beat Brazil and make it to the next stage.
