Security: Bingham varsity to recruit experts

The Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Auta Balefi, Nasarawa State, Professor Kursim Leonard Fwa said the management has concluded plans to recruit security experts, basically ex-military men that are competent in handling weapons to safeguard the institutio­n.

The management, he said was also making efforts to get weapons that would aid the experts to guard the institutio­n.

Speaking at the 11th matriculat­ion ceremony of the institutio­n for the 2015/2016 academic session, Prof. Fwa noted that the institutio­n is assiduousl­y working with the communitie­s to guard against unnecessar­y disturbanc­e.

It would be recalled that some armed hoodlums recently broke into the premises of the school and disposed students of their valuables.

On the matriculat­ion, he disclosed that matriculat­ing 806 students were the largest so far since the inception of the institutio­n, saying the institutio­n has a capacity of 1200 students.

While urging the students to be mindful of the expectatio­n of their parents and the finances spent to keep them in school, he said the administra­tion was investing huge resources aimed at improving the welfare and living condition of their hostels.

He advised the matriculat­ing students to spend their time wisely and shun negative vices by rememberin­g that their study is their number one priority.
