Security: Bingham varsity to recruit experts
The Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Auta Balefi, Nasarawa State, Professor Kursim Leonard Fwa said the management has concluded plans to recruit security experts, basically ex-military men that are competent in handling weapons to safeguard the institution.
The management, he said was also making efforts to get weapons that would aid the experts to guard the institution.
Speaking at the 11th matriculation ceremony of the institution for the 2015/2016 academic session, Prof. Fwa noted that the institution is assiduously working with the communities to guard against unnecessary disturbance.
It would be recalled that some armed hoodlums recently broke into the premises of the school and disposed students of their valuables.
On the matriculation, he disclosed that matriculating 806 students were the largest so far since the inception of the institution, saying the institution has a capacity of 1200 students.
While urging the students to be mindful of the expectation of their parents and the finances spent to keep them in school, he said the administration was investing huge resources aimed at improving the welfare and living condition of their hostels.
He advised the matriculating students to spend their time wisely and shun negative vices by remembering that their study is their number one priority.
