Two UAC directors make Buhari’s cabinet
Two directors of UAC of Nigeria Plc (UAC) — Senator Udoma Udo Udoma and Dr Okechukwu Enyinna Enelamah, have been formally confirmed by the Senate as ministers in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.
Senator Udoma, an accomplished lawyer and two-time senator in the country, joined the Board of UAC of Nigeria Plc in 1995 and was appointed as the non-executive chairman of the board with effect from 2nd January 2010. He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of Union Bank Plc and serves on the Board of Unilever Nigeria Plc.
Dr Enelamah first graduated as a medical doctor before qualifying as a chartered accountant. He has an MBA from the prestigious Harvard Business School, Massachusetts, USA and is also a chartered financial analyst.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of African Capital Alliance Limited (ACA), a leading private equity firm. He also worked for leading outfits including Arthur Andersen and Goldman Sachs and currently serves on the boards of several companies and not-for-profit organisations.
In the past, UAC’s contributions to the public sphere has been well heralded, especially with the appointment of Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan as the Head of the National Interim Government and Commander-in-Chief of the nation’s Armed Forces as well as the appointment of late Mr Isaac Aluko-Olokun as Minister of National Planning. Both were serving UAC senior managers when they were called up for national service.
