DPR discovers filling station for adulterated petroleum in Ilorin
As fuel scarcity persists in Ilorin, the Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) in Kwara State has uncovered a filling station that engages in adulteration of petrol.
FARBAS filling station which is located along Eye Nkorin - Jebba road with another branch along Okoolowo is said to have for long been used for the purpose of adulteration.
The Operation Controller of DPR in the state, Mr Salvation Philip, while inspecting the filling station, told journalists, “DPR got intelligent information from the DSS that the station is engaging in adulteration of petroleum. At this particular filling station, they mix petroleum with Kerosene and sell it out to people. We also discovered one extra illegal tank which is not included in their license which I believe is used for the shabby deals.
Apart the documentary evidence we have, we have taken sample of the content in the tank for analysis to further corroborate our information. If they are found wanting, the filling station will be
from sealed for six months and fined accordingly to serve as deterrent to others.”
The manager of FARBAS, Mr. Dare Akinrinade, denied the allegation against him, saying the filling station will wait for the result of the analysis by the DPR. He added that the extra tank that was discovered at the station has not been in use for sometime now because of rust.
