How police nabbed kingpin of Kebbi cattle rustlers

Kebbi State Police Command has disclosed how the command succeeded in nabbing Kingpin of a notorious gang of cattle rustlers in the state.

Adamu Belto, a.k.a Adede was arrested by the police who are on patrol of black spot area of the southern part of the state.

The state Commission­er of Police, Yakubu o. Jibrin who disclosed this while parading the suspect and his gang, said the command under his leadership has recorded a tremendous achievemen­ts within the shortest time at the command.

He said Belto apart from being a specialist in cattle rustling, he also specialize­d in armed robbery and kidnapping.

“Belto is engaged in all cases of armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling recorded in and around the Bagudo Local Government Area of the state and New-Bussa local government Area of Niger State,” he said.

He pointed out that the suspect was once convicted for cow theft in New Bussa Magistrate Court in Niger State.

“He did not repent but rather forgeD ahead in his notorious business.

“It is our collective resolution as officers and men of the Kebbi State Command to make the state a crime free this end of the year and beyond,” he assured.

The police boss also paraded another gang for criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms of which during their arrest, 16 locally made pistols, one cutlass, three pieces of charms, four pieces of iron and five locally made pellets were recover from them.

Jibrin explained that investigat­ion by the police revealed that the leader of the gang, Ali Labaran is a member of a syndicate that manufactur­es and sell locally made guns to armed robbers operating in Beba area of the state.

He said other suspects found with illegal firearms are Abubakar Umar, Umaru Umaru, Abdullahi Umar and Abdullahi Wakili and were arrested along Kubai - Kajiji road during an operation.

Investigat­ion also led to the arrest of one Saidu Alhassan and Shafi’u Abubakar with one locally made pistol along Bena road.

He said one of the suspects, Ali Labaran, was arrested in possession of six locally made pistols along Bena/ Kontagora road.
