BUK alumni association retains council

-

The Bayero University Kano Alumni Association (BUKAA) has at a convention held in Kano recently returned unopposed the entire members of its National Executive Council first elected on December 7, 2013.

This followed a motion to that effect moved by the chairman, BUKAA electoral committee, Alhaji Abubakar Udu Idris, Head of Service, Kebbi State, who disclosed that as at the end of the period allowed for nomination, no candidates had indicated interest to contest for the various positions declared vacant.

The motion was seconded by Secretary to Katsina State Government, Alhaji Muhammed Mustapha Inuwa.

The BUKAA council members retained included Alhaji Muhammed Dattijo Usman, (President), Hajiya Binta Rabi’u (1st Vice President), Dr Nazifi Abdullahi Darma (2nd Vice President), Professor Habu Mohammed (Secretary General), Hajiya Halima Dangiwa ( Treasurer), Aliyu Ado Kurawa ( Welfare Officer), Alhaji Ahmed Rilwan (Assistant Secretary General 1), Habila Ibrahim (Assistant Secretary General 2), Barr Mica Anache (Legal Adviser), Professor Sadiyya Sani Daura (Financial Secretary), Abubakar Bello Abdullahi (Public Relations Officer), Alhaji Ibrahim Manzo Argungu, Ex-Officio (North West) and Mr Clement Onyeador, Ex-Officio (South East).

National President, Alhaji Usman, said the association has ‘slowly but steadily’ expanded with chapters already established in Abuja, Kebbi, Katsina, Kogi and Niger states while Kaduna and Kano had caretaker committees.

He said the association’s determination to ease the movement of students between the Kabuga and permanent campuses had not materialised because a former Head of State was yet to hand in the two buses he had promised the association.

Usman, who said the association would key into the university’s strategic plans, added that the council would improve sanitation in the university by building additional female toilets to cater for the growing population.
