Wikki’s Obaje leads Nigeria League goal contest

- By David Ngobua

Wikki Tourists marksman, Godwin Obaje appears not to be in the mood to slow down on his scoring as he hit Nasarawa United with a brace on Sunday to take his goal tally to eight in the week 15 Nigeria Professional Football League.

The ‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ of Nigerian football who is now leading the table of goal scorers, has promised to score more goals against Rivers United in their mid-week match in the city of Port-Harcourt.

Obaje said the match against Nasarawa United was difficult but the grace of God which is always with him helped him to score the two goals.

He said his role is to score goals so he always ensures that he justifies why he is one of the highly rated strikers in the league.

“I am happy that I scored the two goals that gave victory to my team. I did it because the grace of God is always upon me.

“It was not an easy match because as neighbours, Nasarawa United came out strongly to have a share of the spoils but we were more determined,” he said.

Against Rivers United on Wednesday, he said it is going to be a tough match but he and his team mates are ready for the battle of PortHarcourt.

“Things are moving in the right direction for me so I am not going to slow down. My target is to score more goals when we meet Rivers United on Wednesday,” he promised.
