-

Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Mr. Silas Ali Agara has called on the Federal Government to immortalize the two coaching icons - Stephen Keshi and Amodu Shaibu, who died recently.

Agara, who stated this yesterday in Lafia when members of the Nasarawa state chapter of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) presented a letter appointing him as the Pillar of Sport Development in the state, said, “I commiserate with the families of Stephen Keshi, Amodu

Shuaibu and sport family in Nigeria and beyond.

“They have contributed immensely to sport development in Nigeria despite some challenges faced. Their deaths were painful. It is a set back to the sport family entirely. I call on The Federal Government to immortalize them for their roles played in the sphere of sporting activities globally.”

He commended the leadership of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria in the state for the special recognition, and promised to team up with them to uplift the sport sector in the state.

“I promise to support SWAN firmly in the state to actualize their dream. We will join hands to lift sport to the next level in Nasarawa State.

“Sport is a lucrative area, sport is what the private sector wants to come in, therefore I urge you to report sports news adequately to enhance its growth in Nasarawa State,” Agara said.
