FG: Diversification matter of urgency
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that diversification of the economy is a matter of urgency which the federal government has realised.
Osinbajo said at the State House in Abuja yesterday while meeting with a group of Nigerian and Mexican agro businessmen:
“President Buhari has said it repeatedly that agriculture and solid minerals, especially agriculture is our economic way out. This is the president’s vision, and our job, the rest of us, is to look for ways to get that dream actualised. President Buhari is ready to support the agricultural plans in any way necessary.”
Osinbajo assured that the government would ensure conducive customs and immigration policies to achieve the vision.
He noted that President Buhari had set up the Presidential Council on the Ease of Doing Business to attract local and foreign investors.
The vice president expressed optimism that with the experience of the Mexican company, Carlos, the plans and projections tabled at the meeting would be attained.
Under the plan, Wells Farm will partner with Carlos in several agricultural business initiatives and employ about 85,000 Nigerians.
