Akwa, Rangers, Sunshine chase Fed Cup quarter-final spots

Top Nigeria Profession­al Football League clubs will clash from today for a place in the last eight of this year’s Federation Cup as the Round of 16 matches of the men’s competitio­n and the quarter-final matches of the women’s event hold across the country.

In one of the star matches of today, cup holders Akwa United will go up against Sunshine Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, while Crown FC of Ogbomosho and Enugu Rangers will do battle in Kaduna on the same day.

At the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, Rivers United and Shooting Stars will square off, just as Wikki Tourists face Plateau United in Akure in another all-NPFL clash.

NPFL side FC IfeanyiUba­h will take on Katsina United at the Kwara Sports Complex in Ilorin tomorrow, while Nasarawa United will test their might against Dynamite FC of Benin City at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja on the same day as Warri Wolves are up against Prime FC of Oshogbo at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

The postponed Round of 32 clash between Enyimba and El-Kanemi Warriors will come up in Abuja on Wednesday, 13th July.

The winners of the clash will go up against J. Atete FC of Delta State at a later date.

In the women’s competitio­n, Abia Angels will take to the field in Lokoja against Nasarawa Amazons, as Delta Queens and Katsina Queens do battle in Abuja on Tuesday, 12th July.

Champions Sunshine Queens will tango with Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt in Abuja on Wednesday, 13th July while the game between Bayelsa Queens and COD United Ladies of Lagos has been moved to Lokoja.
