Akwa, Rangers, Sun­shine chase Fed Cup quar­ter-fi­nal spots

Top Nige­ria Pro­fes­sional Foot­ball League clubs will clash from to­day for a place in the last eight of this year’s Fed­er­a­tion Cup as the Round of 16 matches of the men’s com­pe­ti­tion and the quar­ter-fi­nal matches of the women’s event hold across the coun­try.

In one of the star matches of to­day, cup hold­ers Akwa United will go up against Sun­shine Stars at the Aper Aku Sta­dium in Makurdi, while Crown FC of Og­bo­mosho and Enugu Rangers will do bat­tle in Kaduna on the same day.

At the Ah­madu Bello Sta­dium in Kaduna, Rivers United and Shoot­ing Stars will square off, just as Wikki Tourists face Plateau United in Akure in an­other all-NPFL clash.

NPFL side FC Ifeany­iUbah will take on Katsina United at the Kwara Sports Com­plex in Ilorin to­mor­row, while Nasarawa United will test their might against Dy­na­mite FC of Benin City at the Con­flu­ence Sta­dium in Lokoja on the same day as Warri Wolves are up against Prime FC of Oshogbo at the Aper Aku Sta­dium in Makurdi.

The post­poned Round of 32 clash be­tween Eny­imba and El-Kanemi War­riors will come up in Abuja on Wed­nes­day, 13th July.

The win­ners of the clash will go up against J. Atete FC of Delta State at a later date.

In the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, Abia An­gels will take to the field in Lokoja against Nasarawa Ama­zons, as Delta Queens and Katsina Queens do bat­tle in Abuja on Tues­day, 12th July.

Cham­pi­ons Sun­shine Queens will tango with Rivers An­gels of Port Harcourt in Abuja on Wed­nes­day, 13th July while the game be­tween Bayelsa Queens and COD United Ladies of La­gos has been moved to Lokoja.
