Authorities of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, have given the students 14-days ultimatum to renounce their cult membership or face expulsion from the institution after 820 cultists renounced their membership.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Fidelis Okafor, who disclosed this to newsmen, said about 820 cultists have willingly renounced their cult membership, adding that over 510 cultists renounced their membership under his watch, aside others who renounced in different fora.

He said that re-verification to fish out cultists is ongoing as the institution would no longer tolerate any cult related acts.

He further said they were mobilizing the security agencies to forestall further bloodletting in the campus in any guise as he is determined to sanitize the university, adding that the Anti-cult group has been briefed to be at alert 24/7.
