Soldiers kill 2 in Bauchi

Soldiers of the 33 Artillery Brigade operating in Bauchi forests killed two and arrested other two bandits Saturday.

The unit had exchange of fire with the bandits at Jejin Dutsen Zaki in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

Briefing journalist­s on the operations yesterday, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of 33 Artillery Brigade, Major Joseph Adekunle Afolashade said the troops, carried out patrol in areas around kanawa, Rugan Abdulsalam Diwa and Dutsen Zaki villages against cattle rustlers and armed bandits.

“At JeJin Dutshen Zaki the troops came in contact with armed bandits or kidnappers who opened fire on them. There follow an exchange of fire between our troops and the bandits. The exchange lasted over one and half hours. At the end our gallant troops overpowere­d the bandits and succeeded in killing two of them while two of the bandits were captured alive by the troops,” he said.

Major Afolashade said that the Sector two unit troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade located at Burra forest in Ningi would continue to operate in all the forests which includes Yankari forest in Alkaleri, Burra forest in Ningi, Lame forest in Toro LGA, and Buzun forest in Ganjuwa LGA.
