Don’t interfere in Edo gov’ship poll, Makarfi-led PDP tells Buhari

- By Saawua Terzungwe

The national caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to interfere with the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.

Instead, the committee has asked Buhari provide a level playing field for all the political parties participating in the election.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, yesterday, said that the stage was set for the people of Edo State to vote for a candidate of their choice.

It said that having tested the administrations of the PDP and All Progressives Congress (APC), the people of the state would massively vote for the PDP.

The statement said: “We have seen it before, and we are seeing it again. With the usual empty promises of the APC, they will promise everything to deceive the people and will go 360 degrees denouncing all their promises once they grab power.”

It said that the PDP was determined to redeem the people of the state from the “go-and-die government of the APC.”

The statement said that the APC had no regard for the ordinary people and imposed “heavy tax” without tangible projects in the state.
