Abia pays allegiance to Makarfi

- From Linus Effiong, Umuahia

The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains loyal to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee, the party’s chairman in the state, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, has said.

A statement issued by Onuigbo, in Umuahia, said that the PDP was not factionalised in the state, describing Chief Chidi Nwosu, who claimed to be the authentic chairman of the party in the state and loyal to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as a joker.

“After the congresses which I emerged as the state chairman of our great party, he (Nwosu) came personally to congratulate me and also pledged his loyalty to me and the party,” the statement said.

“In our party, like other political parties, after the congresses or elections, those who feel aggrieved have window of opportunity to express their grievances.

“The PDP convention at Port Harcourt went in favour of Senator Ahmed Makarfi, including the recent court rulings, coupled with his recognition by INEC as the national chairman of our party. So, I advise him (Nwosu) to leave the sinking ship and come to the one that is afloat before it is too late.”
