Lagos badminton sanctioned for botch int’l classics
The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has ordered the Lagos State Badminton Association to pay all fines imposed on the country by the international body for the botch 3rd Lagos International Badminton Classics.
Announcing this at a media briefing in Abuja after a meeting of the Federation, a member of the board Kumbi Titiloye said the cancellation of the championship, three days to its commencement has caused great embarrassment to the federation and the country in general.
Titiloye, who is also the Administrator of Abuja Football College, the federation would write apology letter to the intended participating countries and the African body over the last minute cancellation of the annual championship.
“We are going to write the Lagos State Badminton Association to pay all fines that will be imposed on Nigeria as a result of the cancellation of this event. We are going to collate the fines because as we speak now we don’t know how much because some of the countries acquired visas and made other travel expenses, and all these will be paid by the Lagos State association,” Titiloye said.
He lamented that one of the participating countries, India did not get the cancellation notice until they arrived Nigeria.
