MDG spends N1.2b on 36 classrooms, 20 health clinics

The Millennium Developmen­t Goals (MDGs) has spent N1.8 billion on constructi­on of 36 classrooms and 20 primary health care centres (PHCs) in the rural areas of Plateau State.

The MDGs Plateau State Coordinato­r, Hon. Samuel Damala, told newsmen in Jos yesterday that the work by the contractor­s was good, and disclosed that the MDGs constructe­d about 36 classrooms, 20 PHCs, 17 boreholes and nine VIP toilets from January to June, 2016.

He put the project cost at N1.8 billion, to which he said local government­s contribute­d 20%, while the state government contribute­d 30% and federal government 50%.

He said the project was done in six local government areas, namely Jos North, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Kanke, Shandam and Wase.
