Group tells senators to thread softly

- By Ifah Ele Sunday

A non-governmental organisation, Development Watchdog Concept (DWC), has condemned the alleged threat by some senators to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Chairman of DWC, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Abu Abuja, who spoke to reporters on behalf of the group in Abuja, said the threat was not only condemnable but also threatened national interest.

Abu Abuja said: “The selfish action of the senators was quickly exposed by the Almighty at this crucial period in the history of country. Nigerians are fully prepared to resist any attempt that will subvert their mandate.

“The leadership of the Senate has lost the respect of the people; they only think of themselves and not the people that they are representing and it is unfortunate that we have found ourselves in this mess,” he said.

He said the senators should be reminded that the generality of the masses who voted for Buhari would remain prayerful until those sabotaging the system were identified and prosecuted.
